Field Medical Training Battalion – West (FMTB-W) Block 3 Practice Test

In military medical support, care facilities are organized by levels that reflect how far from the battlefield they are and how capable they are. Level Two facilities provide more advanced care than frontline aid stations—things like ongoing medical management, stabilization, and some limited surgical capability, enough to treat and hold patients before they are evacuated to a higher-level hospital.

A Medical Battalion is structured to deliver this Level Two care in a deployed environment, with units and teams dedicated to forward treatment, limited surgical support, and casualty stabilization, plus evacuation assets to move patients to Level Three when needed.

Fleet Hospitals and overseas hospitals are larger, fixed or semi-fixed hospital units that operate at higher levels of care than Level Two, while a Battalion Aid Station is a Level One facility that handles initial, near-point-of-injury care.

So the Med Battalion fits the Level Two example because it provides the more capable forward care appropriate to that level.
